Our Services: Baby Development Classes

Peekaboo!… I see you.

Babies can grow up in what feels like the blink of an eye. At NeuroCentric we work with parents, carers and their children to cherish and enjoy every tiny kick, roll, and wobbly step as the adorable milestones they are, while also recognising them as powerful signs of your baby’s growing strength and coordination.

Our kids physiotherapists aim to meet every child where they are at, and empower and equip parents and carers to help their child continue to form the skills they need for growing independence and play through their early years.

Join us as we take a peek into Baby Movement and Development Classes at NeuroCentric.

Our Developmental Playgroups:

Do you ever wonder about what milestones your baby should be meeting? At NeuroCentric our baby development classes help take the guesswork out of what gross motor skills your baby will be learning through the ages of 0-14 months old, and how to give them a little help along the way.

0-4 months: In this group we teach how to position, handle, and play with their babies to promote healthy movement patterns, and build confidence in their baby’s physical abilities. We focus on breaking down early movement milestones, to help parents build confidence in supporting baby’s skill development.

4-8 months: Welcome to the mini movers. Between 4-8 months, babies are rapidly developing strength, coordination and body awareness, all key foundations for future movement! In this class we begin to move more and explore how babies build strength and postural control for everyday play! Each activity in class is designed to support babies in becoming more independent in their ability to explore the world around them.

8-14 months: From 8-14 months we are not just moving we are going places. This is an exciting phase where mobility and independence really takes off. Sessions are now about preparing your baby, and the household, for movement in all directions. Sessions in this age group are designed to aid parents in assisting their babies to learn new skills and to promote safe exploration, encourage varied movement experiences and support alignment and balance as babies discover how their bodies work against gravity.

Supporting your Baby’s Developmental Journey:

Every baby is unique in their developmental journey. The first 18 months is such a critical window for early intervention and we love that we are able to chat to local mums about supporting baby development, things to keep an eye out for and when to see a kids physiotherapist or GP for an assessment.

This blog is designed to give you an idea of the types of activities in our baby classes. If you have specific concerns about your child’s movement, it is important that you reach out to a kids physiotherapist or your GP to chat about your concerns.
